About this challenge
The Prompt
Capture the holiday season’s essence in a poem that celebrates its joy, nostalgia, and serene moments.
Overview The holidays bring with them a tapestry of moments—laughter shared over tables, the quiet of snow drifting outside, and the warm glow of memories made and cherished. The Poets community invites you to channel these moments into verse that speaks to the heart. Let your poem dance with the lights of celebration or settle softly like snow on a winter morning. Make readers feel the warmth of tradition and the sparkle of festive spirit through your words, evoking emotions that resonate long after the last line.
In order for your submission to qualify, it must be:
- A poem, 100 and 500 words in length.
- Submitted to the Poets community. Your story will be disqualified if it is submitted to any other community.
- Submitted before December 10, 2024 at 11:59 PM EST
The Prizes
- Grand Prize: $500
- Second Place: $200
- 15 Runners-Up: $25 each

A Transparent Look at Vocal Challenges and Top Stories
Almost three years ago, we shared a resource article that served as a place for people to suggest new challenge prompts. We thought it would be a good idea to refresh that thread, and take the opportunity to answer a few common questions about top stories, how challenges are judged and how submissions are reviewed.

A System That Isn’t Working Challenge Winners
Systems promise order. They organize behavior, distribute opportunity, and suggest that if everyone follows the rules, things will work. The entries in A System That Isn’t Working look closely at what happens when that promise begins to slip.
