Fear Not My Child
Sleep knowing you are safe
Fear not the night my child
Fear not the gentle breeze that rustles the trees.
No need to look around; no evil will be found.
Embrace the universal love it carries to your door.
You are protected by the angels, child, forever more.
Look for the shining stars, for they light up the sky.
The moon holds our secrets, up in the sky so very high.
Close your eyes; the storm will pass sooner than you think.
Try to think only good as to restful sleep you sink.
Nothing out there will harm you. Fear nothing this night.
Tomorrow’s sun will soon rise; the night will be out of sight.
Soon birds will sing goodbye to the moon and stars up high.
So sleep now, my little one; you’re protected from up high.

It’s All About You
My special Love So I walked into the works canteen, you were sat alone with a brew and toast. I was so excited to see you. You smiled, and my heart beat faster as I said hello. I can’t explain how happy that moment was; I had worked with you a few times in the past. We chatted happily. Time went so fast. You went your way and I went mine. When the shift ended and we were all checked in, I went upstairs to the works club. I ordered a Coke, sat down, and there you were, heading over to sit with me. We laughed; I loved being in your company. I think we were both shy. Alas, the club shut; it was again time to go our separate ways. I felt sad. Your eyes were so dark and sexy; I imagined kissing those lips. Maybe in another world you could have loved me and I you. I hoped and prayed you would be in work tomorrow, and you were. Our friendship grew, and you were locked in my heart forever. I just wish I had been locked in yours a little longer than the time we shared. But they say, don’t they, it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Someone else snapped you up and took you away, but she could not untie those heart roots or erase you from my memory. I think of you often and relive those special moments we had together. I will take my deep-rooted memory of you one day to my grave, and when God asks what my special memories I have I shall tell Him all about you, my special 381 x 2.

Worth the Wait: Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
Beach bumming in a small Caribbean beach town sounded like a perfect way to end our 6-month trip through Mexico and Central America. Or so we thought. The foul, fishy stench of rotten seaweed hit our nostrils as we stepped from the cramped bus and looked out at a rather depressing, empty, and underwhelming black sand beach. It was pouring with rain, and we had to quickly fish out our ponchos. We thought, this couldn’t be it, could it?
