i could only watch
as each brick was slowly laid
inches from my face
…
i was gagged and bound
prevented from impeding
those who sought my end
…
and as each course grew
i could plainly see my end
in this waning light
…
the last brick is placed
i was swallowed by darkness
time will now take me
