Anxiety comes a knockinā at my door.
An unexpected, unwelcome guest, to be sure
But maybe, this time, Iāll act mature.

Typically, Excitement comes tap, tappinā on my gate
Energetically entersā¦ a package deal, party date
Seldom an impervious mood it fails to elevate.

Nine, ten, eleven, twelveā¦
Stressinā over issues needinā to resolve
Visit a Psych whoāll quiz, question and delve
Dream up a fresh diagnosis, butā¦ Reality, heāll shelve.

Anxiety asks, āWhatās wrong with Excitement?
It makes a great palā¦ except for those, hoping life will be silent.ā
Depression dogs Anxiety; hounds Happiness and Excitement
Swallow a fistful of pills to keep Moods and Conduct compliant.

Unacquainted with bouts with Anxiety and Depression
Happiness and Joy fleeā¦ lacklustre lifeās now full on stressinā
Can Peace and Pleasure flourish, amid exuberant Excitementās suppression?
Anxiety hits Reset ā dubiously allows Excitement full expression.

Whoās gonnaā rap, rap on my gate?

Excitement eagerly embraces Extroversion
Anxiety worries that ADHDās distractions will worsen
And so, they see-saw; tilt and tip; parry back and forth, beyond all reason
Wonder which will come out on top. Iām cluelessā¦ Iām confessinā!

Inspired by the stressful quest for ADHD diagnosisā¦ or not. The Psych seems to have a jarful of colourful diagnoses. He bizarrely bypasses the common or obvious, and fixates on the obscure, which not one single person in the patientās orbit concurs with. Itās enough to spark a whole new gamut of symptoms.šµāš«š«£š„ŗ

Never rainsā¦ it pours! Our sonās sick and dogās post-op Catās neck has a tick! * Thankfully they all survived. Hudsonās a good old dog and an excellent patient. He calmly submits to wearing old singlets ā fashioned into body suits ā to protect multiple abdominal wounds. It was almost the final straw to discover a tick on Miaās ancient neck. Having long experience in dealing with ticks, we were surprisingly unsuccessful in removing it (after first ākillingā it with eucalyptus). An unplanned trip to the vet, along with her doggy brother confirmed my daughterās assertion. Her ātickā was a mole in disguise.

Stellar word-weaving, Angie! This one comes to life - I really can hear it as song, with all the frenetic thoughts/characters dancing back and forth. Marvelous work - and very relatable. (my wife, a special educator, is quite sure I could get the ADHD diagnosis too!!)
