Here Comes Love
Amy stood at the open bi-fold doors of her closet, as her eyes raced through every piece of clothing carefully hung on plastic hangers. It’s not that she cared that much about clothes, but her mother always said thin wire hangers eventually distorted the look and shape of whatever you put on them. It became an unconscious habit to buy plastic hangers every time she bought clothes.

The Next Hundred Years
During my physical examination, my doctor and I spoke of my health and the tests he wanted to perform to ensure I stay healthy. As his nurse began laying various instruments on the counter, I joked with the doctor about their new appearances, stating how I remembered the former antiquated equipment. Our conversation drifted to the various illnesses I had and how I coped with them.

ACE and Me
Is that my uvula swelling? There I was thirteen hundred miles away from home eagerly awaiting the following day. It was a Saturday afternoon in May and my grandson would graduate from high school on Sunday. Excitement not just ran through my veins – it galloped! I couldn’t have been prouder than if he were my own son. Frank, being the oldest of my seven grandchildren was my first to graduate high school. Stephanie, the next in line wouldn’t see her milestone day for another two years. This certainly would be a day to remember – in more ways than one.

How High's The Water
It was a warm and sunny afternoon in April. We knew our rainy season was approaching but it wasn’t here yet. At least, not according to the meteorologists. Florida’s rainy season is supposed to begin June first of each year and just like our hurricane season, end on November first of each year. A meteorologist will also predict our water levels.

Nanny's Legacy
A visit to my grandmother’s house always offered remarkable stories. It didn’t matter if they were rhymed poems, prose, or plain stories. She had probably over a million thoughts to share. As a little child, I was mesmerized by everything she said, whether her words were true or made up. As a child, I never knew the difference, nor did I care. It was time spent with my grandmother and she never failed to entertain me.

Poseidon Claims Another One
Ah! Poseidon – the god of the seas and waterways, creator of storms, and bringer of destruction. For now, we’ll forget that he’s also considered the god of horses and earthquakes. Living in Florida, I can only imagine him with his trident in hand, wreaking havoc with the seas. Every time we experience a severe storm, I think of him and his anger – what caused it this time?

The Last Parade
I always looked up to Frank, not just because he was taller than I was, but also because he was my big brother. We were born in an era where our parents taught us to look out for each other; big brothers were to be treated with the same respect as our parents, and they were taught to take care of their little sisters.
