Hosting a Book Fair
How many of you remember the “best week ever!” from when you were a child? Book fairs were the staple of many of our childhoods with Scholastic leading the way. While there are many choices for book fairs today and I absolutely want to talk about them, that’s going to be a later article.

Goals for 2026
With 2026 starting, many people are making resolutions. I’m not a huge fan of the word resolutions because I feel like that sets you up for failure. Every year that I’ve written resolutions, I haven’t worked on them past January. When I am ready to do my monthly goals, I use those yearly ones to develop the new ones. At the end of each month, I evaluate how I’ve done and make my goals for the next month. So instead of resolutions this year, I wrote up my goals for the year and then for January.

Read Across the States
During the month of March, we had a literacy night at my school. This year it was scheduled for March 14 (aka Pie Day) so the rooms were almost split between reading and mathematics. In the library, I decided to do a “Read Across the States” activity.

Making Guess Whats
Every year around Thanksgiving, I pull the Kitchen Aid to the front of my counter and get to work. The smells of chocolate chips, snickerdoodles, and various other sweet scents fill my kitchen and my house. But my favorite cookies to make don’t involve more than a large bowl, a measuring cup, and a few ingredients.

My First GLMA Experience
In June 2025, I attended my very first convention as a librarian. It was fantastic and inspiring and chaotic. There was so much going on that I felt like I didn’t take it all in, but I’m really glad that I went. I will definitely do some things differently than I did this year and I’ll do some things the same.

Library vs Media Center
What is a Library? What comes to mind when you hear the word library? Most likely a quiet place where someone shushes you if you speak too loudly. I know for me, it conjures up images of card catalogs and long hours spent combing through shelves and sitting at a table with a notebook.
